Shaun White lacks style

Slopestyle that is. The master snowboarder that has won a gold medal in the half pipe during the Olympics’ only two snowboarding competitions in history has backed out of the new slopestyle event. The Sochi course is apparently riddled with problems and has many athletes concerned. White spoke out against the course prior to announcing his withdrawal. It’s probably safe to say that many snowboarders took a huge sigh of relief when White withdrew because lets face it… they actually have a shot at winning a gold medal in some sort of snowboarding competition. However, the news may come with a bit of a sting after the competition realizes that White will be fresh for his half pipe domination. Mom doesn’t like the beard(s)

December 1, 2013 I was watching the news and an interesting story caught my eye–a filmmaker named Joshua Seftel had gotten his mother an iPad to communicate via video. A little back story: Seftel had began filming his parents while they would be fighting, while they were laughing, and all of the in between. After a few months, his father was diagnosed with a lung diease. A month after that, his father passed away. While his father was still alive, he had filmed a conversation with his mother about how she would love to be a star on television or the radio. After hearing that, you could hear a voice from off the screen saying, “Do you know what the odds are of that?” The voice belonged to Seftel’s father. Mrs. Seftel replied, “I know.” Let’s fast forward again to now. Seftel, being the creative individual that a filmmaker is, began recording the conversations he had with his mother and developed them into a web series on YouTube called My Mom On Movies. Not only has he bonded with his mother even more, but he has turned her in to the star that she had always wished she could be. The story has that warm, fuzzy, feel-good type of an ending. I was personally touched by the story so I did some investigating and came to find that Mrs. Seftel is not a fan of the Boston Beards. Mom’s always know...

All good things come to an end.

Each baseball season is filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, and walk-offs and heartbreak. It fuels the part of our emotion that helps us to believe that when your back is against the wall, anything is possible. You always have a fighting chance as long as you still have an out available to be made. Our seasons are dotted with unbelievable plays that we will watch over and over again years from now as well as those home runs that never seem to find their way back to Earth. Just as a fire can light a team’s road to the postseason it can also, coincidently, be what burns a team out of it. In October, you have to be perfect. Believing that a comeback was still in our future, I made my way to Tropicana Field with my friend Kristen last night for ALDS game 4. What’s really funny is that Kristen and I met via Twitter last year after watching each others video submissions on YouTube for the third season of the MLB Fan Cave. When we saw their 2014 video starting to play on the screen at the stadium, we had to have someone take our photo. Though you cannot really see the video playing in the background–it’s there, trust me. Facing our fifth elimination game since September 29th, I felt that the odds were in our favor despite what anyone else would suggest. We had proved our determination and fearlessness against Toronto, Texas, and Cleveland so Boston was just the next victim on the list. We had gained momentum by eliminating the Orioles and...

Wil Myers Earns Promotion

Top Tampa Bay Rays prospect, Wil Myers, got the call that he will be joining the team this week in Boston. Myers will wear the number 9. In Durham, Myers was hitting .286, has 7 stolen bases, and leads the team with 14 home runs and a International League leading 57 RBI’s–which is 14 more than any other player on the Bulls. What kind of impact do you think Myers will make for the...
