About Me: My Intro for MMC6936 January 5, 2015 My name is Megan Washington, and this is my third semester as a student in the Master’s program for Social Media at the University of Florida. I received my BA in Interpersonal Communication from the University of South Florida in the summer of 2008. I waited a few years to go back to school and I am really glad that I did because I believe the real world experience that I have encountered at my places of employment have given me the advantage of seeing different course material in a way that I may not have been able to if I started the program right after earning my Bachelor’s. I have a dog named Melky and she is four years old. She is my best friend and such a loving little energetic bundle of fur–even if she is a few pounds overweight! I blame that part on the pug in her. She loves going for rides in the car because everyone always gives her treats when they see her–the pharmacy, the bank, and even Chik-fil-A! Her favorite treat of them all is ice cream.       Music is my passion and I hope to one day work in the field again. To say that I feel blessed because I have platinum and gold record plaques with my name on them is an understatement; I have dreamed of them my entire life. With being in business for over twenty years, Bull Horn Media has a plethora of clients which include Google, Pepsi, Gatorade, Planet Hollywood and more. Lisa LeGrand, one of the owners of BullHorn Media, has indicated that the main demographic and target market for the company is small businesses, trade shows, corporations, associations; anyone with a need for video production. Bull Horn Media has such an eye catching website that uses a variety of colors to enhance the graphic detail. Immediately, without clicking anything, you can tell that graphic design is a strength for the business. Coupled with a web visitor’s first impression of the company and Bull Horn Media’s reputation that has been built over the course of twenty years, the brand has a great portfolio to showcase to potential new clients that continuously sets standards for their competitors. Opportunity lies within creating accounts on different social media platforms, integrating the accounts into the website and keeping those accounts updated. Model Mayhem

Model Mayhem July 5, 2014 The benefit to networking and connecting with other people who enjoy your hobbies or belong in your industry is second to none. Not only can you learn from other individuals, but you’re able to practice and better your own skill set. Social networks that focus on industry specific users is probably more popular than you think. Sure, we have general social networking platforms like Facebook and Myspace, but did you know there are other domains out there that focus on fields like accounting, musicians, and lawyers among others? These social networking platforms offer those in their respective fields the opportunity to focus on content and material other than the typical Facebook timeline that includes about a hundred photos of someone’s cat or thousands of wedding photos from someone who just got hitched that you know. Industry related platforms help you to familiarize yourself and keep up with with that given industry and provide networking opportunities with others in your field without all of the clutter. The unique platform that I’m going to discuss is called Model Mayhem. What is Model Mayhem? Model Mayhem began in 2005 and is a website for professional models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, designers and digital artists. MM, as users call it, allows people the opportunity to check out the legitimacy of different photographers (among the other professionals who offer different services) through the use of profiles that feature portfolios and references to people they have worked with from the website.
